Getting there & tips
Best time: May–October for coastal walking and swimming; the cherry-blossom window is mid-April to early May. Winters are cold and windy—aim for June–September for the beach and Binhai Road. · Northern temperate monsoon with a maritime pull: cool, breezy summers (rarely sweltering), cold dry winters, and a short spring blossom season. Sea fog and wind off the Bohai/Yellow Sea can cool evenings sharply.

Getting around
Six metro lines (1, 2, 3, 5, 12, 13; ~237 km) tie the core: Line 1 hits Xinghai Square, Convention Center and Heishijiao; Line 2 links the airport, railway station and Zhongshan Square; Line 5 heads toward Tiger Beach.
Navigation
Binhai Road is not a metro line—cover it by rented bike, short Didi hops or a slow scenic drive; Lüshun is ~1 hour by road to the west.
Pay
Metro, stalls, and rides mostly take Alipay or WeChat. Set up Alipay with a foreign card before you land.
