Getting there & tips

Best time: September–October for mild air, harvest fruit and clear light on the adobe lanes; April–May is also pleasant. Summer is hot but the old town comes alive after dusk; winter is cold and quiet. · Temperate arid continental desert climate—very low humidity, hot summers, cold winters, strong sun, large day-night swings and occasional spring dust.
