Canton Fair 2026 Transit Guide: Metro Times, Airport Shuttle, Taxis and Parking

Getting to and from the Canton Fair complex in Pazhou, Guangzhou, is the first logistics test of a buying trip. Here is the official 2026 transit setup — metro hours, airport shuttle, taxis, parking and card payments — in one place.

Key takeaway

Getting to Canton Fair 2026 in Pazhou, Guangzhou: metro Line 8 is the workhorse (first trains 6:12–6:23, last trains 23:02–23:54 at the fair stations), with an out-of-station transfer to Line 11 at Pazhou via a sheltered walkway (Gate A to Gate F, blue transfer gates). A dedicated shuttle runs fair–airport (airport→fair 9:00–16:00, fair→airport 11:00–18:00), plus a fair–Liuhua Road bus line, an autonomous bus loop, metered-taxi and ride-hailing pickup points, and 14,969 parking spots with live availability on the 广州泊车 mini-program. International cards (Mastercard, Amex, Visa, JCB) work directly at metro gates; theme day/three-day/five-day passes are available.

The First Test of a Canton Fair Trip Is Getting There

Pazhou, the Canton Fair complex on the south bank of the Pearl River, is well connected — but crowds are enormous and pickup points move every year. The Guangzhou transport authorities published their full 2026 arrangements on October 12, 2026, a few days before the 140th session opens on October 15. Here is what that means in practice for a visiting buyer.

Metro: Lines 8 and 11, and the One Big Transfer to Know

Two metro lines serve the fair complex: Line 8 (stations Xin'gangdong and Pazhou) and Line 11 (station Pazhou). Useful times for Line 8: at Xin'gangdong the first train toward Jiaoxin departs at 6:14 and toward Wanshengwei at 6:21, with last trains at 23:03 and 23:52; at Pazhou the first trains run at 6:12 and 6:23, last trains at 23:02 and 23:54. Line 11 at Pazhou: first trains at 6:02 (toward Yuancun) and 6:11 (toward Chisha), last full-route trains at 21:47 (Yuancun) and 22:53 (Chisha), with shorter-turnaround last trains at 23:02 and 00:08.

The catch: at Pazhou station, Lines 8 and 11 are an out-of-station transfer. You change via a sheltered walkway between Gate A of Line 8 and Gate F of Line 11, using the dedicated blue transfer gates — follow the on-site signs. Enter the station through gates A/B/C/D for Line 8, or gates E/F for Line 11.

Buses: The Dedicated Line, Extra Frequency, and a Driverless Loop

A dedicated shuttle runs from the fair complex toward Liuhua Road, picking up on Zhangchang Middle Road and passing main streets plus hotel areas. Note the hours: on the first four days of each phase it runs 15:00–19:00; on day five, 13:00–17:00.

Regular bus lines serving the complex (137, 229, 239, 262, 304, 461, 461班, 582, 762, B7, B7快, University City Line 3, Tourist Bus Line 3 and others) run at higher frequency during the fair, with empty-vehicle inserts when demand spikes.

There is also a driverless (autonomous) shuttle loop: Shangri-La Hotel – Pazhou Metro Gate E – Canton Fair Bus Stop – Modiesha Bus Stop – Pazhou Bus Stop – Shangri-La Hotel, running daily 11:00–16:00 every 15 minutes.

Airport Shuttle: Between the Fair and Baiyun Airport

A dedicated shuttle connects the fair complex and Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport. At the fair, board at the corner of Zhangchang Middle Road and Zhangchang South Road. At the airport, board at Gate 11 of Zone B and the West Passenger Station of Terminal 2; the route also stops at Terminal 3.

Schedules: airport to the fair runs 9:00–16:00; fair to the airport runs 11:00–18:00. Off-peak, buses depart every 30–45 minutes; in peak periods they run on demand as crowds build.

Taxis and Ride-Hailing: Where the Pickup Points Actually Are

For metered taxis, temporary pickup points are on Zhangchang Middle Road, Zhangchang West Road, and Huizhan South 2nd Road near Hall C. Taxis must pick up at the designated spots. After closing time (17:00–18:00), extra taxis are organized to the complex for crowd clearance.

For ride-hailing apps (DiDi and others), temporary pickup points are on Zhangchang Middle Road, Huizhan South 3rd Road near Hall C, the road opposite Gate 3, and at Canton Fair Hall; there is a fast drop-off/pickup lane at Gate 5.

Parking: 14,969 Spots, with Live Availability

This session provides 14,969 parking spaces across the Pazhou complex, nearby hotels, offices, residential lots and temporary lots on vacant land. Live availability for electronic fee parking around the complex is published in the "Guangzhou Parking" (广州泊车) WeChat mini-program under Canton Fair – parking search & booking. Watch the on-site guidance screens before choosing a lot.

Paying for Transit: International Cards Work on the Metro Gates

Foreign visitors can swipe international cards — Mastercard, American Express, Visa, JCB and others — directly at metro gates to pass. For metro tickets, the fair period adds theme one-day and three-day passes (buyable at self-service card machines at Guangzhou South, Pazhou, Xin'gangdong and Airport North stations) plus a special five-day pass for the 140th session sold only inside the fair complex. Three new ticket machines were added at Xin'gangdong station to cut queues.

For taxis, Guangzhou runs a bilingual "Yangcheng Taxi Guide" card with fare-estimate and complaint links — scan it before your ride to preview the fare. A "refund-first for breach" rule means that if a driver takes a detour, ejects you mid-ride, illegally shares your ride, misuses the meter, haggles, or overcharges, you can report via the card's complaint QR code, the company hotline, or the 12345 government hotline, and the company is expected to verify and refund within about one day.

Enforcement: What the City Is Doing This Year

The transport authorities reported 1,747 road-transport violations since September, including 155 cases of illegal operation and 445 taxi violations. Between October 10 and 14 they ran a special enforcement campaign at Baiyun Airport, Guangzhou South Station, Guangzhou East Station and Guangzhou Baiyun Station — the main arrival points for fair visitors. During the fair, a strict-control zone around the Pazhou complex keeps enforcement staff at key roads, with enforcement extended to Canton Tower, Pazhou Bund and Tianhe areas in the evenings and rest periods.

The Bottom Line for a First-Time Buyer

Metro is the most predictable option: Line 8 is the workhorse for the fair, and the out-of-station transfer to Line 11 is the one thing to memorize. Book the airport shuttle for fixed times, or a metered taxi for late evenings. Pay with an international card at the gates to skip ticket queues. Keep the 12345 hotline and the taxi complaint QR code saved — they actually resolve disputes fast.

What to do next

Memorize the Pazhou out-of-station transfer (Line 8 Gate A ↔ Line 11 Gate F). Use the airport shuttle for fixed airport connections, metro for daily fair commuting, and metered taxis after closing time (17:00–18:00). Save the 12345 hotline and the taxi complaint QR code. Use ChinaPie's trip planner (/plan/) to schedule your Guangzhou itinerary and budget around your fair days.

What may vary

Metro and shuttle hours can be adjusted during the fair; the autonomous bus loop runs only 11:00–16:00; airport shuttle frequency rises in peak periods; pickup points are managed on-site and may move; parking availability changes live via 广州泊车.
