2026 Policy Updates

Unilateral visa-free (30 days): Expanded to 46 countries, with Sweden added in November 2025. All existing 45 countries extended to December 31, 2026.

240-hour transit visa-free: Expanded to 57 countries (Kyrgyzstan and Vietnam added August 2026), covering 24 provinces and 65 ports.

Hainan 30-day visa-free: 61 countries (including USA, Canada, Australia) can visit Hainan visa-free for 30 days with cruise or direct flight.

ASEAN comprehensive visa-free: Permanent visa-free agreement with Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore; negotiations ongoing with Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam.

Important: US passport holders are NOT eligible for unilateral visa-free (common misconception). US citizens can use 240-hour transit or Hainan visa-free.
