You will need: a smartphone (iOS or Android), your foreign phone number (for SMS verification), your passport, and a Visa/Mastercard/American Express/JCB credit or debit card.
Do this BEFORE you arrive in China if possible — you can download and register anywhere. The final card binding may require the SMS verification from your bank, which works on your home number.
Your passport name and bank card name must match EXACTLY. If your passport says 'JOHN MICHAEL SMITH', your card must say the same. Nicknames and abbreviations cause verification failure.
The entire process takes 10–15 minutes. Set aside enough time and do it in a well-lit area (you'll need to photograph your passport).
Step 1–2: Download & Register
